Roadworks

Set design and engineering department. The movie plays on.

Over the brow of a small hill and what do we see but roadworks. Crew plus mini-caterpillar tractor, chainsaw, timber, tools and a small digger all choppered in. Recent storms have caused some washouts here and there and bit of road repair is indicated.

We asked him why he wasn't using a STOP-GO man and he reckoned if OSH found out they'd probably insist.

A slip up the hill a bit can have dramatic results just a short way downstream

This washout ploughed through the old track. You can see where walkers have picked their way through subsequently.

It's hard to envisage just how much has come down until these nikau tell their own story. In the background more surf mist.

Anyway, we've been moving along this morning and it's time for a packs off break. Miranda has sorted the weather again - a little more cloud than usual, given the time we are going to be out in the open.

I still have one dried banana and a little chocolate left. And a couple of dried figs, not that they've been necessary.
